Description
LOOSE NOZZLES is a lighthearted but deviously challenging game, projecting classic arcade gameplay through the lens of a child’s drawings. Players fly a ramshackle rocket through increasingly labyrinthine levels to rescue endangered colonists, avoiding damage that knocks parts off your ship and changing how it handles. Try to save everybody without losing your nozzles!
History
Loose Nozzles is a collaboration between veteran designer Chris Foster (Harmonix, Turbine, Hidden Door, Northeastern University) and his son, Ian. “I was teaching myself how to move sprites in Unity and Ian, then 5, showed me a picture of a rocket falling apart while an enemy shot at it, and explained the game he was dreaming up. I suggested we combine his idea with the games I’d loved as a kid, like Lunar Lander and Choplifter.” Developed as a “occasional nights and weekends” game over several years, the finished game combines art and voices by Ian with programming and music by Chris.
Features
- Simple two-button flight controls for all-ages arcade action
- Ship upgrades let you carry more, fly farther, and look cooler
- Alternate game modes that challenge expert fliers
- Art and audio by Ian Foster, started at age 5
